FASFA Deadline for students using TN Promise
Students using TN Promise funds for 2 year college or technical schools MUST complete their FASFA (Financial Aid Form) by January 1st. NO EXCEPTIONS! This Thursday is the last chance to work with Mrs. Frankie McCord with REDI before the Christmas break!!
UT Chattanooga-Math Major Scholarship
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) invites students to apply for the 2018 Marjorie Watson Mathematics Scholarship.
This prestigious scholarship is intended for an incoming freshman attending UTC who majors in Mathematics. The Marjorie Watson Mathematics Scholarship is a $5,000.00 scholarship and provides $2,000.00 in the freshman year and $1,000.00 in each of the sophomore, junior, and senior years.
A complete application consists of:
1. Letter of application affirming an interest in a mathematics degree.
2. Two letters of recommendation affirming the applicant’s mathematics ability, at least one of which must be from a recent mathematics teacher.
3. Supporting materials, which should include, ACT/SAT scores and high school transcripts.

FASFA filing assistance night November 2nd
We will have our second FASFA filing assistance night at the PHS library on November 2nd from 3- 7 pm. Ms. Frankie McCord will be present to assist with financial aid filing (FASFA). Please bring your 2016 tax information!
FASFA filing assistance night October 12th
On Thursday, October 12th, Frankie McCord with REDI (TN Promise Mentor and College Access Mentor) will be in the PHS library during the school day as well as after school from 4 pm-7 pm to assist with FASFA filing. The FASFA is the financial aid form that is required for any type of financial assistance for college (TN Promise, Pell Grant, Hope/Lottery, etc.). Please bring your 2016 tax information with you. There will be additional times/meetings for assistance in the upcoming months.
The Jackson Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship
This scholarship opportunity is for last year graduates (2017) and students already enrolled in a community college that are planning to transfer to a 4 year institution. Must have a 3.5 GPA and a minimum of 26 ACT composite score. To apply, please go to http://www.jackkentcookefoundation.org.
ELKS Most Valuable Student Scholarship
The 2018 Most Valuable Student scholarship contest is open to any high school senior who is a US Citizen. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2018 competition.
FASFA Deadline for TN Promise
****Parents and students, please be aware that the FASFA (financial aid) deadline for students planning to use TN Promise money is January 16th. All students planning to use TN Promise funds for DSCC, JSCC or TCAT or any community college MUST FILE A FASFA. Franky McCord will be at PHS on November 2 from 8 am-7 pm, December 7 from 8 am-7 pm and January 11 from 8 am-7 pm for FASFA filing assistance. Students, be aware that community service hours are due by July 1, 2018 if you are entering college in the fall. PHS 11th and 12th grade students will be attending a college fair at Gibson County High School on September 12, 2017. Because we will travel together by bus, a field trip form will be send home for parent permission.
Senior Parent Meeting-TN PROMISE
A meeting outlining the eligibility guidelines of the Tennessee Promise Scholarship for 2017-2018 will be held Thursday, August 17. All Peabody High School seniors and their parents are strongly encouraged to attend this vital informational meeting in the school's library at 5:30 pm. Application timelines and general college info will also be discussed. Make plans to attend and have college-going questions answered.
